Democratic Republic of Congo

The largest country in sub-Saharan Africa, with the second-largest in all of Africa, and the 11th-largest in the world, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) does not need any further introduction. With over 78 million human beings populating its lands, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the most populous officially Francophone country, the fourth-most-populous country in Africa, and the 6th-most-populous country in the World. Unfortunately, the blessing of its lands has also been its curse. The Eastern D.R. Congo has been the scene of ongoing military conflict in Kivu, since 2015. Armed conflicts in D.R. Congo have been part of its history since the accession to independence in 1960. After the independence of the Congo, on 30 June 1960, the D.R. Congo counted its first 100,000 deaths as a result of the Congo Crisis, a conflict that arose immediately after independence, from 1960-1965. A sneak peek of what resulted in the Congo first and second wars, also known as the African’s world war, was the Congo Crisis. The number of deaths is countless as it is estimated to be over six million human casualties. A harbor of peace and love that has turned out into lands of graves and sadness. In spite of its history, the D.R. Congo reflects the diversity of its hundreds of ethnic groups and lifestyles like very few African countries. From the mouth of the River Congo on the coast, upriver through the rainforest and savanna in its center, to the more densely populated mountains in the far east, the D.R. Congo’s traditional ways of life have been altered by Colonialism, the struggle for independence, the stagnation of the Mobutu era, the First and Second Congo Wars, but not enough to eradicate its culture and breathtaking views. With new leadership in place, the DRC is looking forward to brighter destiny, leading the fight to a better future for the continent, the world and the last frontier of its existence. Hopes are up, and souls are at peace for democracy has finally been installed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While a lot of work remains to be done, the Congo has launched a new chapter of its history that has yet to make its marks and creates a new generation of young and brave Congolese souls ready to uplift the flag and the anthem to the highest position, on the international scene, that has never been achieved before.

Joseph Gode Kayembe

Founder and Chairman of the Board

The question that came into my mind and which changed the course of my life was,“ What would my life be in this world if I thought of myself first”. So many people had followed the path I was about to take, I was about to be take a path leading to became one more passenger on the coach of greed.
It is by helping others that you will help yourself also. There is always a way of helping yourself when you help others.
My name is Joseph Gode Kayembe, and I am the Chairman of the Board of LIZADEEL, an organization fighting for the rights of those who do not have the ability to defend themselves and as such we offer to them services before the courts for judiciary rehabilitation.
I was a young graduate in economics from the university of Kinshasa who had been offered high positions in some of the biggest companies in the D.R.Congo. I turned down all these propositions and that was not a simple and easy decision for me. And decided to fight for the future of my country the women and children who could not fight for themselves and LIZADEEL was born out of very humble means. From our humble beginnings operating in Kinshasa, and over the years with the help of the Almighty God, and our outstanding partners, LIZADEEL has grown to have offices in all 26 provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We hope to expand beyond our boarders and reach all of Africa. We hope and pray that you join us in this journey.

May God bless you for your support!
